This will allow you to build your skills as well as experience many techniques to find what type of quilting you like best.

February's quilting technique is applique.
Learn from recognized quilt teacher; Jane Bromberg, the tricks and technique of machine applique using fusibles and machine stitching.
*You will create a unique applique design or you can add a design to an existing quilt.
*You will learn to use fusible webbing for applique
*You will learn the best machine stitches to use to create different stitch effects

All materials provided
Class consists of 4 - 2 hr. sessions

Our Master Instructor; Nancy Peterson has a lifetime of skills & knowledge to share with you to assure you have real-life experiences in the commercial sewing world. This course is for the person interested in securing employment in sewing. The course consists of class lectures & labs. The course runs for 8 weeks. Course fee $500 for 2 months - monthly payments available. Limited scholarships available - contact us for registration.

Garment & Garments. Discover the world of sewing with Commercial patterns such as McCall's, Simplicity, Butterick, Vogue, Kwik Sew and more.
This course covers:
* Body measurements & sizing.
* Pattern selection.
* Proper fabric selection, interfacing, notions & more
* Understanding the commercial pattern Learn to use the pattern for layout & cutting, marking, and construction.
You will choose your own pattern & fabrics with guidance from instructors. First garment selected will be basic top with darts or gathers, neckline facings. Some patterns choices available.
We have a limited fabric stash that you can use or bring your own.
Re-sign up as many times as you want. Thursday evenings 6-8 pm

You will learn the elements of a quilt
- fabric selection - including "focus fabric" and color theory, scale and more
- cutting & piecing
- tools and methods
- quilting and finishing
- batting & bindings
Learn about these elements while making a simple table runner.
This class is 4 - 2 hr. sessions with some homework (you can use our machines during open sew if you do not have one at home)
This is a great class for beginner and anyone wanting to refresh their skills. Fee $80 - materials included.

* You will learn the Top 10 stitches including; Running stitch, cross stitch, the french knot.
* You will learn some tricks to make pattern transfer easy & learn how to use pre-printed designs
* All materials provided
Brenda Daily, your instructor has been stitching for years. She will share many samples of different projects that can be enhanced with embroidery.
The class is held weekly - come for 1 week or come weekly to build your stitch library and skills.

Make a tool organizer for your sewing tools & a cross body bag
Then use these skills to start your own sewing business or acquire a job in sewing.
To earn a certificate you must complete a test which includes written questions and sewn samples

Phase 2 - Intro to Garments & Sewing Garments
Discover the world of sewing with Commercial patterns such as McCall's, Simplicity, Butterick, Vogue, Kwik Sew and more. This class consists of students at different levels of sewing experience
This course covers:
* Body measurements & sizing.
* Pattern selection.
* Proper fabric selection, interfacing, notions & more
* Understanding the commercial pattern Learn to use the pattern for layout & cutting, marking, and construction.

After your initial garment you can build on these skills and explore
* Sleeves - raglan, set- in, different shapes
* Pockets, cuffs and collars
* Waistbands & zippers, casing and elastic
* Incorporating linings
* Sewing with special fabrics

You will choose your own pattern & fabrics with guidance from instructors. First garment selected will be of simple design.
We have a limited fabric stash that you can use or bring your own.

Certification requires testing - written and sewn samples required

Course consists of 12 weeks - 4 weeks for Intro to Garments & 8 weeks for Garments Beyond

Creative arts bring positive energies into your life so join us for 1 month and/or many to create a selected small project that can be hand or machine sewn. This project will be combined with a positive word or phrase to use to focus your positive energies. This will also be available by kit if you cannot make it to our club meet up. If mail order there will be shipping added
New projects can be picked upon last Fridays or ordered on line starting last Friday thru the next month.

This is a one session orientation training which will give you an overview of the mission of The Sewing Labs and how you can serve as a volunteer.
Orientation will cover;the mission of TSL, the opportunities for volunteers from the classroom to community to boardroom, rules of operation and safety precautions for everyone in the program and more. We want you to do what you heart & hands love.
Even if you are just interested in finding out more before deciding to volunteer this is a great opportunity to explore what The Sewing Labs is all about.
All of our volunteers are expected to go thru an orientation within the first 90 days of service Pre-registration is requested.

The Sewing Labs

This is a closed class for the Don Bosco/Lincworks group. This group is learning sewing for job skills -from Sewing Machine Operation to Basic Sewing Skills - the students will work thru skills and projects building on their skills and techniques that they will learn. Site visits to local employer who use sewing in their business is included. Students will be tested on the skills that they learn and can earn a certificate. Tool Kit is required for class.

Open Sew & Quick Sew Projects. OPEN SEW is a time to practice your skills or work on your own project. Use our tools and stash.
Machines are available first come, first serve. or bring your own.
* Machines available: Brother & Baby Lock & Janome Sewing Machines
* Sergers
* Olfa cutting systems;cutting mats, rulers, etc.
* Cutting, measuring, marking and construction notions A large selection of tools and more.
Coming soon Industrial straight needles & cover-stitch.
QUICK SEW PROJECTS available for small fee -These projects are Ready-to-go kits, complete with instructions and supplies. Most require sewing - because that is what we do! The selection of projects change monthly.
A fun time to enjoy with friends while creating. Many are beginner or kid friendly = a great way to share the Legacy of Sewing.

Sessions are held each week = come to as many or few as needed for your project - NO instruction included but helpers are available for limited needs.

Phase 2 - Intro to Garments & Sewing Garments
Discover the world of sewing with Commercial patterns such as McCall's, Simplicity, Butterick, Vogue, Kwik Sew and more. This class consists of students at different levels of sewing experience
This course covers:
* Body measurements & sizing.
* Pattern selection.
* Proper fabric selection, interfacing, notions & more
* Understanding the commercial pattern Learn to use the pattern for layout & cutting, marking, and construction.

After your initial garment you can build on these skills and explore
* Sleeves - raglan, set- in, different shapes
* Pockets, cuffs and collars
* Waistbands & zippers, casing and elastic
* Incorporating linings
* Sewing with special fabrics

You will choose your own pattern & fabrics with guidance from instructors. First garment selected will be of simple design.
We have a limited fabric stash that you can use or bring your own.

Certification requires testing - written and sewn samples required

Course consists of 12 weeks - 4 weeks for Intro to Garments & 8 weeks for Garments Beyond
