At this event you will have an opportunity to talk with our current volunteers, and learn of the many ways in which your time and energy can make a very real difference in the lives of those we serve. Now more than ever, as the social support net thins, our collective efforts are needed as we come together in community to teach the sewing arts and lift one another out of cycles of generational poverty, addiction, and incarceration. Your time and energy makes a real difference in the lives of the women we serve. We hope you will join us!
Learn basic hand embroidery stitches while creating a fun sampler. Running stitch, cross stitch, the french knot is just a few of the stitches learned. Brenda Daily, your instructor has been stitching for years. She will share many samples of different projects that can be enhanced with embroidery. The class consists of 3 - 1.5-hour sessions and includes all materials provided.
Enjoy learning to piece curves and/or squares. You will be learning the tips for these piecing challenges while creating either a pillow or a throw size quilt (great for a baby present) This class will take you from fabric selection thru piecing thru quilting. This class is for beginners thru advanced. The class consists of 6 weeks of 2-hour sessions. Materials available from our stash or you can bring your own.
This class is for first time sewing machine owners or someone who needs a refresher course. Learn the features of your sewing machine and what is their purpose. Learn sewing machine maintenance and proper selection of needles and thread. Bring your own machine, if you have one or reserve one of ours. This class is FREE when you sign up for any other class
Do you have too many T-shirts laying around? Do you have someone with Tshirts from special events that you would like to create a remembrance quilt for them? T-shirts quilts make great gifts for graduations, college or just for fun. Gather 20 T-shirts and we will teach you the tricks to using them to make a quilt. We want you to finish your project so class consists up to 8 - 2 hours sessions. Class fee $80 which includes the special interfacing needed. Additional materials needed for your borders & backing.
