2020 was a year of clarity. We have all gained wisdom through the joys and sorrows that we have faced both as individuals and communities. As The Sewing Labs looks forward to a brighter tomorrow, we understand and celebrate the lessons that we can learn from listening to the experiences of another. It is from that starting point that we are inviting you to join us in The Sewing Labs first Make’n HERstory art exhibit.

This is TSL's second year making fleece hats and scarves for the homeless. This year, we are putting the hats and scarves into the KC Community Bags and Volunteer KC is ALREADY DISTRIBUTING the goods to the homeless! Please consider making a donation of fleece so we can get as many hats and scarves into the hands of those who need it most! Half a yard of fleece will make one hat and scarf set.

Don't have fleece to give? Please consider making a monetary donation to The Sewing Labs to support this great project.

You'll fall in love with all the great classes, events and workshops happening in February!

2020 has been a year of uncertainty due to the COVID pandemic, but The Sewing Labs is proud to have been part of a community of sewists who came together to sew and distribute over 63,000 masks and counting. As we continue to reopen for training, workshops, and classes, we need your help to raise needed funds to close out this year. Our goal is to raise $5,000 with a quilt raffle.

The December class schedule features a Shibori PJs and Socks workshop, monogrammed stockings and the quilt raffle drawing!

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what we are thankful for. Here at The Sewing Labs, we want you to know that we are incredibly thankful for our volunteers. When people give up their free time to help others with no expectations of getting anything in return, we are truly moved.

The November class schedule features a pencil skirt project, shibori dye workshop, and our Quilt Raffle fundraiser!

Updates in this newsletter include our recent move, face mask project, ramping up classes, the success of our recent fabric grab, volunteer needs, and more!

The Sewing Labs is still here!
This community is so precious to us and we are here - to help!

It may seem difficult to understand "community" when we are in the middle of a crisis and are asked to practice "social distancing" but supporting each other must be our first focus.
Please consider your sewing as an act of community. The Sewing Labs will be offering FREE kits to make many different projects that you can use for yourself or return to us to redistribute.

Our first project will be to make face masks. Kits will be available starting Tuesday March 24th.
