Learn how to use a serger. Bring your own serger to add to your skills or use ours. Serger Basics - 2 sessions 2hr class. This class covers basic serger sewing. Proper Threading and maintenance, thread tension and understanding serger features. Participants of this class will create a workbook with samples of stitches, mastering curves on your serger, creating special hems and more.
Kids Camp - Open to ages 6-12 and beyond (under 8 welcome with adult helper) Kids will learn the fun of creating while making projects inspired by unicorn, rainbows and trolls. They will sew, glue, paint and stuff and more to make a different project each week. Sign up for 1 @ $10 or all 4 for $35. Session 6/29 - Emoji,Unicorn or troll pillows, 7/6 - dream catcher circle weaving, 7/13 - rain sticks & sparkle slim & 7/20 - treasure pouches with troll rocks . Volunteers welcomed
This class will introduce you to the Fun of Sewing. Learn to read a pattern, choose fabrics & notions for success. Start your sewing by constructing a simple garment. The instructor will help you to select your fabrics & notions & pattern during the first class. The Sewing Labs supplies all the fabrics & notions needed for your project from our "in-kind" inventory. But, you are welcome to bring in your own fabrics, notions & sewing machines. LImited sewing machines are available. Class consists of 4 weeks of 2 hr sessions. Class Fee = $60

Make one in class and then make many - great for gift giving and a great way to use up your fabric scraps. Unity of Independence has partnered with The Sewing Labs to help us to build the kits for our classes. Monthly, the group gathers together to build the kits needed for the Sewing Labs. We enjoy fellowship while supporting each other. You are welcome to join us to build the kits after the morning services. Advance registration is suggested
Join us for our Annual Gratitude & Grace Quilting Retreat - This is a FUN retreat for you and your friends to get together to quilt. Bring your own machine or reserve one of ours. The retreat starts on Friday night @ 6 pm until 9 pm, Saturday 8-6, Sunday 8-2.
This year we have selected a "modern" quilt pattern, called Faded Stripes, designed by Angela Walters. She is a well known long arm quilter and owner of the quilt shop, Quilting is my Therapy, located in Liberty MO. You will be constructing the quilt top from all new materials- size approximately 72.5 " x 88.5". We have chosen a combination of grays prints with an accent of Pickle Green or Coral/Pink Flamingo or Midnight Navy, turquoise, Current Red, Bubblegum Pink I just love it! Special Guest - Diane Little will be conducting a Yoga session on Saturday to stretch & re-energize us for more power sewing.
