The Sewing Labs (TSL) uses sewing to transform lives, empowering individuals to harness the skill to earn employment, build resilience, and create community.
Its three primary programs, the Sewing Salon Training Program, sewing classes for the public, and art therapy classes, make a significant impact by addressing community needs including, access to stable, quality jobs, access to mental health services, and inclusion in a welcoming community. TSL’s organization is also committed to reducing waste through reusing materials and sewing machines which is much needed in Kansas City.
