Intro to Clothing Repair and Alterations
Give the clothes you already own a second life. In this hands-on class, you will learn practical techniques for making simple clothing repairs and minor alterations.
Topics include patching garments, hemming, repairing seams, and taking seams in or letting them out to improve fit. You will practice both hand and machine-sewing techniques before applying what you have learned to clothing items you bring from home. Instruction may be tailored to the specific repair and alteration projects students bring to class.
Students should be able to independently wind a bobbin, thread a sewing machine, and complete basic hand sewing.
